*SEVERAL Ph.D./POSTDOC POSITIONS ARE OPEN
IN SOFTWARE ENGINEERING/INFORMATION SECURITY
IN THE "SECURITY OF DISTRIBUTED DATA AND SYSTEMS" GROUP
AND AT FRAUNHOFER IESE*

The security of distributed data and systems group at TU Kaiserslautern /
the Fraunhofer Institute for Experimental Software Engineering (IESE) has
several open positions for Post-Docs and PhD students with a projected start
date of Summer/Fall 2010.

The candidates are expected to participate in research on systems and
software engineering for information security. One particular focus of the
work will be conceptual and technical contributions to the difficult problem
of controlling or monitoring data after giving it away, at all the layers of
the software stack, from the CPU to services and business processes. This
includes both building and assessing the respective technology and
architectures both conceptually and in industrial contexts.

We are looking for dedicated and enthusiastic researchers with an interest
in both theory and practice. Knowledge of systems and software engineering
and information security as well as implementation skills and no fear of
maths are a plus. The junior researchers employed will be given the
opportunity to carry out a PhD in Computer Science at the university of
Kaiserslautern, http://sec.cs.uni-kl.de, on a topic related to the field.
The researchers employed may want to and can participate in teaching related
to the subject. TU Kaiserslautern regulations require doctoral students to
hold a Master's or equivalent degree. Both Post-Docs and PhD students will
be paid employees of the Fraunhofer IESE, and salary and employment
conditions are very attractive.

The organizational setup of the newly formed research group guarantees
excellent supervision by the group leader both at IESE and the university.
For further information or to apply please contact Prof. Alexander
Pretschner at pretschner at cs.uni-kl.de (for more information, see
http://sec.cs.uni-kl.de).

When applying, make sure to explain why you are interested in the subject
and, for the junior positions, why you would like to pursue PhD studies.
Please also include transcripts and grades of your classes.
